Drag Strip Summary

Friday Night Drag Racing
A few rain showers came close to stopping racing action on Friday night; however, only a few sprinkles came through and the action started up at the Clarksville StormPay.Com Speedway’s drag strip where it was $750 to win in the Footbrake division. This time, Footbrake drivers had an extra opportunity to earn some cash with $100 race to win on dial-in times.
Footbrake racers put their dial-in time on the line to see who could win the $100 that was put up by Priceless Concepts. Craig Stephenson from Hopkinsville, Kentucky’s took down the strip and won the money with the best time, which also allowed him to take the 1st round bye. However, in the final round for Footbrake, it was Clarksville Tennessee’s Brady Mase with a dial-in time of 6.90 staging on the spectator side going against Clarksville Tennessee’s John Perry with a dial-in time of 6.07 staging on the tower side. When the lights went down on the tree, it was Mase with the better reaction time on with a .5149 and took the win as he made it down the strip in 6.9223 seconds with a speed of 92.92 MPH.
Sportsman-Street class raced Friday night with the final round placing Chapmansboro Tennessee’s Jerry Knox with a dial-in time of 10.02 staging on the spectator side. On the tower side, it was Joelton Tennessee’s Bill Grant with a dial-in time of 7.71. Once the lights went down on the tree, it was Bill Grant who had the better reaction time with a .6359; however, it was Knox’s who took the victory with a time of 10.0510 seconds with a speed of 71.00 MPH.
Other classes that raced down the strip on Friday night was the Trophy class; where, for the second time in a row, Crofton Kentucky’s Jamie Mitchell staging on the tower side with a dial-in time of 8.94. On the spectator side, it was Auburn Kentucky’s Chris Hightower with a dial-in time of 9.27. When the lights when down on the tree, it was Mitchell with the better reaction time off the line with a .6259 and that helped him take his second victory in a row with a time of 9.1551 seconds and a speed of 68.67 MPH.
Super Pro also dragged on Friday night with only two racers speeding down the strip with Clarksville Tennessee’s Adam Bourne staging on the tower side with a dial-in of 6.47 and Clarksville Tennessee’s Casey Martin on the spectator side with a dial-in of 7.26. When the tree went down it was Martin red light fouled the start with Bourne taking the win with a time of 6.5089 seconds and a speed of 103.41 MPH.
Every Friday night in May, it is $500 to win for the Footbrake’s on the drag strip with all other classes racing as well.
