Drag Strip Summary

 

            The holiday weekend started with some hot action with drag strip racing on Friday night at the Clarksville Speedway.  A total of 38 cars turned out to race down the strip with the Footbrake division having the chance for an extra $100 with the Run for the Money, with this week’s money sponsored by Jackson Body Shop and was based on the closest driver to their dial-in time with Hopkinsville, Kentucky’s Craig Stevenson taking the money for the second time in a row.

 

            A total of 23 cars participated in the largest division at the Clarksville Speedway’s Drag Strip on Friday night with the final round pairing having Clarksville, Tennessee’s Brady Mase staging on the spectator side with a dial-in time of 6.89.  Staging on the tower side was Clarksville, Tennessee’s John Perry who had a dial-in time of 6.06.  When the lights went down on the tree, it was Brady Mase who took the victory with a time of 6.9083 with a speed 95.51 MPH. 

 

            The second largest drag class of the night was the Sportsman-Street division where there were 9 cars entered in with that division going into four rounds until the final pairing was made.  In the final round, staging on the spectator side, was Clarksville, Tennessee’s James Smith with a dial-in time of 9.44.  Staging on the tower side was Clarksville, Tennessee’s Janet Mulderink who had a dial-in time of 8.25.  When the lights dropped on the tree, it was James Smith who took the victory with a time of 9.4247 and a speed of 71.43 MPH.

 

            Six different competitors went head to head in the Street-Trophy division where it took the same four rounds before the final pairing was set.  Once in the final round, staging on the spectator side was Elkton, Kentucky’s David Miller with a dial-in time of 10.67.  Staging on the tower side, it was Lavergne, Tennessee’s Jimmy Bannister Jr. with a dial-in time of 11.40.  Once the lights fell on the tree, it was Bannister who took the victory with a time of 11.5358 with a speed of 51.92 MPH.
