Friday Night Drag Racing

Drag Racing got back into action at Clarksville Speedway with the Street, Street Trophy, Footbrake, and Pro ET Bikes all competing on Friday night. After all the cars finished time trials, drivers were ready to compete.
In the trophy class, there were 20 cars competing. The final round came down to John Triplett and Matthew Othaldt. Triplett had a dial in time of 9.9490 with Othaldt dialing in at 11.0798. As the tree came down, Triplett had a reaction time of .5579 to Othaldt’s .6191. Triplett’s time at the finish was a 09.85 to Othaldt’s 11.07. Triplett’s winning speed was 72.57 mph.
In footbrake, 58 drivers competed for win. It ultimately came down to Allen Wood and Norm Love. Love, driving in his camaro, had a dial time of 6.2410 while Wood had a 7.8657 dial time. They had nearly similar reaction times at the start, with Love’s reaction time being .5340 and Wood’s being a .5342. As they crossed the finish, Love had a time of 06.19 compared to Woods’s time of a 07.85. Wood would end up taking the win, having a speed of 84.44 mph.
Next came the Street class, with 34 drivers competing. Jerry Knox and Janet Mulderink ended up battling for the win. Mulderink dial in time was a 7.93449 compared to Knox, who had an estimated time of a 9.6169. When the lights came down on the tree, Mulderink reaction time was .5650 to Knox’s .3821. Mulderink’s time at the finish was a 7.96 to Knox’s 9.65. Knox took home the win and had a winning speed of 71.19 mph.
Finally, the ET Bikes competed. The two drivers that raced in the final round was Billy Warren Jr. and Elvis John Choate. Warren Jr. had a dial in time of 6.1079 while Choate’s time was 5.9911. Warren Jr.’s reaction time at the tree was .5330 to Choate’s .5269. At the finish Warren Jr. timed in at 6.11 compared to Choate’s 5.97. Choate picked up the win, having a speed of 113.05 mph.
Next week gate will open at 5pm on Friday June 5th with time trials at 6:30 and racing at 8pm.
