Racing at the Clarksville drag-strip got back to action on June 26, as the street trophy, footbrake, and street cars got to racing.  The main event of the night was the $500 to win footbrake bracket race.

In the street trophy class, it came down to Matthew Othaldt out of Fort Campbell, KY and Wesley Svatba from Elkton, KY battling for the win.  Othaldt got the edge at the line, timing in a 11.58 compared to Svatba’s time of 10.39.  Their reaction time at the start was nearly identical with Othaldt’s reaction time being .8279 to Svatba’s .8299.  Both drivers beat their projected time with Othaldt having an 11.6721 on the dial and Svatba having a 10.5801.  The winning speed from Othaldt was 55.48 mph.

Next was a battle between Allen Wood and Adam Bourne to claim the footbrake win.  Both drivers out of Clarksville TN, did not beat their projected time.  Wood had a dial in of 11.3970 compared to Bourne’s dial in of 6.5399.  When the tree dropped and the drivers raced to the finish, Bourne was able to get to the line first.  Bourne timed in with a 6.50 compared to Wood, who had a 11.40.  Bourne’s winning speed was 104.15 mph.

Last were the street class races.  Allen Wood got to the finals in this class as well.  This time he was able to win.  He had to fend off Jimmy Bannister Jr. out of Lavergne TN.  Wood had a dial in time of 11.4739.  Bannister Jr.’s time was nearly the same with a dial in of 11.3692.  As they crossed the stripe, Wood timed in at 11.40.  Bannister Jr. had the exact same time at the line, but Wood’s speed was slightly higher.  Wood’s winning speed was 59.52 mph.
