Dirt Track Summary

The Memorial Day Weekend allowed one of the largest crowds to gather at the Clarksville Speedway’s Dirt Track for a great night of racing action.  Warm temperatures and Coors Lite Models walking around selling beer gave a great show to all those who attended to the races.

As in other weekends, four different classes had to qualify before they were able to get ready for their feature races.  Pro Street Stock only had three racers competing on Saturday night with Marion, Tennessee’s Mike Hodges having the best qualifying time with a 14.496.  That pole position was all that Hodges and the #99 car needed to take the checker flag with Dover, Tennessee’s Anthony Jackson and the #36 taking 2nd place and the #80 driven by Tennessee Ridge, Tennessee’s Bruce Westerman finishing 3rd.

The next stock class to qualify was the Crate Late Model where it was Clarksville, Tennessee’s Carnell Parker III and his #75 having the best qualifying  time with a 13.618.  That pole position was all that Parker needed to take the checker flag and the victory with Cunningham, Tennessee’s Charles Zimmerman in the #93 finishing 2nd and Cunningham, Tennessee’s Levi Ashby in the #1A coming in 3rd.  The rest of the Top 5 went to the #15 driven by Jason Jones in 4th place and Caleb Ashby in the #61 finishing 5th.

The UMP classes were the last two classes to qualify for the night with the Open Wheel Stock class coming first where it was Burns, Tennessee’s Gregg Brown driving the #B5 to the best qualifying time with a 13.770.  That time allowed Brown to take the checker flag with Paris, Tennessee’s David Flowers in the #99 coming in 2nd and the #71 driven by Tony Garber rounding out the Top 3 finishers.  The rest of the Top 5 finishers went to the #90 controlled by Kyle Robertson placing 4th with Dustin Isom in the #117 completing the race in 5th place.  The Late Models also took to the track with the #56 driven by Jeff Walston having the best qualifying time with a 12.582.  That inside position was all that Walston needed to take the checker flag with the #16S driven by Paducah, Kentucky’s Chris Shelton taking home 2nd place with Mike Chandler in the #51 ending up in 3rd.  The rest of the Top 5 went to Brandon Chappell in the #22 taking home 4th place and the #75 driven by Carnell Parker III rounding out the Top 5.

Four other classes took the dirt track on Saturday night with the Street Stock division having 10 racers battling it out for the checker flag with the #H55 driven by Ronnie Hedgepath taking home the checker flag with Don Everett in the #9 coming in 2nd and Clarksville, Tennessee’s David Cline in the #4 finishing in 3rd place.  The rest of the Top 5 went to the #20 driven by Ricky Wood taking home 4th place and Chris Peliter and his #2 machine rounding out the Top 5.

The final three classes that raced on the dirt track Saturday night dealt with the mini machines; however, that did not mean that the racing action was small.  In the Outlaw Mini Sprint feature it was Mayfield, Kentucky’s Brian Nance in the #39 who took home the victory and the checker flag with the #79 driven by Tracy Wilson finishing 2nd and the #51E controlled by Clarksville, Tennessee’s Dewayne Emberton coming in 3rd.  The rest of the Top 5 went to Jimmy Hale in the #H9 pulling out a 4th place finish and Brian Carrigan in the #66 coming in and finishing 5th.

The Pure Mini and Mini Mod Stock classes were the last two classes to finish out the night where it was Clarksville, Tennessee’s Jeffery Rittenberry in the #T3 who once again took the checker flag with Clarksville, Tennessee’s Michael Rittenberry in the #10 finishing in 2nd and Dover, Tennessee’s Daniel Stephens in the #82X in 3rd place.  The rest of the Top 5 went to Brandon Daniels in the #23 coming in 4th with James Scott in the  #83 rounding out the Top 5.  The other mini division was the Mini Mods where was Indian Mound, Tennessee’s Ronnie Richardson in the #15 who took the checker flag with John Neil in the #23 finishing 2nd and Erin, Tennessee’s Michael Perrigo coming in 3rd.   The rest of the Top 5 went to the #11 controlled by Nicholas  “Slick” Alexander taking home 4th place and Christopher Perrigo in the #12 rounding out the Top 5.
