All drag cars got back into action as the trophy, foot brake, and street classes took to the track on Friday night. Super pro also got back racing after taking a few weeks off. The races had some close finishes as four drivers came out on top when the night was done.
In the super pro class, it came down to Bobby Hunter and Jason Lynch in the final round. Lynch had a 7.5651 dial in while Hunter had a 6.3182 dial in. They both had similar reaction times when the tree fell. However, Lynch was able to pull away at the finish with a time of 7.55 seconds. Hunter’s time was 6.27 sec. Lynch’s winning speed was 87 mph.
In the trophy class, John Triplett and Michael Lewis did battle. Lewis had a 9.0091 dial in compared to Triplett’s 8.9179. With the two also having similar reaction times, it came down to the wire with Triplett winning by less than half a car length. Triplett crossed the finish in 8.91 sec. while Lewis did it in 8.89 sec. Triplett got the win by topping 80 mph.
Next was the footbrake class. The final round would come down to Terry Krantz and David Harrison. Krantz had a 5.9109 dial in with Harrison dialing in at 7.3829. Krantz got off the starting line faster, having a reaction time of .5031 compared to Harrison’s .5410. That helped Krantz in getting the win as he made it to the finish in 5.87 sec. Harrison made it in 7.37 sec. Krantz’s winning speed was 108 mph.
Last came the street class. Todd Wohlwend and Ernie Adams were the two finalists. Adams dialed in at 8.6339 while Wohlwend’s dial in was 8.1751. Adams had a better reaction time but lost out in the win. Wohlwend ended up beating his dial in time, crossing the line 8.16 sec. Adams was actually slower than his dial in time, ending in 8.65 sec. That was the main reason for his loss. Wohlwend got up to 85 mph in the win.
